I'm off to a road trip on Monday!

My summer job has ended and I have a whole month of leisure before my quite possibly last year at university starts. Yikes! Still, I shall raise a glass for both my successful and pleasant summer job experience and for my studies and their inevitable end.

I already have some plans for my free time and unlike most years I am not going abroad. I think the main reason is that I spent last spring in USA and while I was there I encountered a lot of material from Finland. It was partly stuff a tourist can ogle and I guess I am kind of a tourist for my own country sometimes. I have never really traveled around Finland that much, only to a few cities.

Next week this will change. There will be two goth-y explorers, and our tiny entourage is going to road trip for a week. We hope to see beautiful views, experience absurd happenings and enjoy ourselves in general. I would really want to go to an auction, because I've never been to one. And of course it would be most exciting to meet gothlings or other dark creatures on our escapade.

Our plan is to start on August 3, Monday from a city called Lahti (an hours drive from the capital).

First off to Mänttä-Vilppula and by nightfall we will be in Kuopio, a large city in Eastern Finland.

From there we will continue to Kajaani and other intriguing places and (hopefully) end up in Oulu on August 6, Thursday evening.

From there we will drive down the coastline and stop at least at Raahe, Vaasa, and Pori.

It is probably no surprise that about all these cities have intriguing art museums or other bizarre happenings and sight sees. I shall post about them on this blog on the road or at least shortly after my trip!

During this weekend we are going to gather our playlist for those long hours in the car. If you have any suggestions, please comment and share them! I do know I am going to introduce my partner in crime to these Puerto Rican goth bands Viruella wrote about in her post.

I am on a tourist / adventurer mode and can not be stopped. I feel like I should warn you that this art oriented blog might turn into a weird travel blog for a while. The material is probably going to be as serious as my instructions on how to use a vihta in a sauna.

I hope you all have (had) exciting vacations!
