Mid-Month Status Report: Suits you (Sir)!

The Mid-Month Status Report is here again! Trystan from This is CorpGoth has asked us to show our more official suit jackets. Unfortunately I have not used a suit jacket in ages, partly because the one I am going to show you no longer fits that well and I have not found a jacket that would fit. I would love a suit jacket I could use closed, which is not the case with the one I am showing.

These pictures was taken 2010 by my friend, when we had a little photo shoot. As you can see, that jacket is one of those one can not wear closed, unless one is several inches smaller from chest and waist than what I am in that picture.

Still it was a nice suit jacket I found from a flea market. It seems to me, that all my favorite clothes are from flea markets, so I guess I should stop even to go to clothing stores.

Now, thanks to this Status Report I really need a new suit jacket! My style has evolved into more casual lately and I would love to wear more office-like clothes.

Thanks for reading and do check other participants too! Just click the Mid-Month Status Report logo in the beginning!

Samhain: a Party and a trip to the Graveyard

This is going to be rather a different post compared to the ones I usually make. I am going to tell about my ways of celebrating Samhain this year.

Yesterday (31st of October) I spent in solitude with a really important person in my life. We did things we enjoy and things that strengthen confidence between us and talked about some very personal stuff. This lovely evening was like rays of sun, shining into a dark room and all because somebody had the courage to peek between the curtains.

Today (1st of November) I am going to a theater with this friend of mine to see The Addams Family Musical. I really hope it is going to be indeed funny and not too farce-like. The beginning situation is that Wednesday has fallen in love with a normal male person and this creates a lot of drama, since especially Morticia thinks that is a bad thing. Or at least that is what the summary says at the theater's home page. Unfortunately the page is in Finnish only, so I am not linking it. But the play is an adaptation of the Broadway show. Apparently it is 'an original story' (of Charles Addams, I suppose) but as far as I am concerned, that sentence on the web page could also mean that it is an original story meaning that it (acceptance and kids growing up) is something everybody has to ponder in their life and has been for many centuries now.
Samhain: the door to the world of Dead is open!

I must say I am a tiny bit skeptical of this plot, because I have always seen Addams Family as a tolerant and open family, who (especially in the old TV-series) try not to judge anyone and most of all Morticia is the one trying to be the mediator. But we'll see how the play turns out!

2nd of November there is a goth club in my hometown, celebrating Samhain. I am attending it, but before that I have the most coolest lecture ever. Yes, I have a lecture on Saturday, All Hollows' Eve on a local Cemetery at 7 p.m.! I t is a part of a course in Literature Studies called The Traditions of Macabre and our university teacher is going to hold one of the lessons at a grave yard. After the lecture I am off to home, quickly change to party outfit and head to the goth club. I think it would be not that respectful for those other people, who might be at the cemetery, greeting their dear departed, if I was in a latex dress or something. Also, there is going to be really cold, so i would catch a cold if I'd wander around in a mini skirt!

Happy Halloween and Mysterious Samhain!

Peeping through windows.

I was rambling through my old pictures again and wanted to show these. These pictures are from the Netherlands, Amsterdam 2009, when I was on holiday with my significant other. For some reason I spotted many windows that were broken or had some interesting content. Here are the best.

This was apparently some sort of security glass (there was a little sticker about that at the bottom) and I thought this spiderweb-like pattern was pretty.

This here is a brilliant solution, if one has had a family fight and a plate has once again gone through a window.

This was the bottom part of a window of a small art gallery. Unfortunately i can't remember what was the gallery's name or at what street it was located.

This here is quite a generic picture of a gothic church. Still, I think it is pretty (but smeared, because one could not use flash) and it is in fact Oude Kerk, wich is an old church that is in the middle of the red ligth district. It is in the middle of a small square and it is surrounded by brothels, where ladies are showing the merchandise in the windows. Oh, almost forgot to mention, it is no longer used as a church, there are exhibitions, like in 2009 there were journalistic photos.

Another scattered window. Those old houses in their slow decay were just breath-takingly beautiful.

Bizarre Roman statues

I was once visiting Rome and I happened to catch a photo or two of some quite amusing statues. They are funny for the modern human either because the sculptor was eccentric or because of erosion and pollution.

If one takes a closer look, it is quite clear this angel has lost a couple of fingers and is now making rather a rude gesture.

These poor creatures of the sea also appear to have wings. They look a bit frustrated being trapped in the water. The sculptor was clearly working with an exquisite imagination.

This statue was in Vatican. There is no doubt a man in agony, while some bugger is either tickling him or trying to take an alien object from the foot.

Here is a watery monster with a bad day. I found it quite cute.

I miss Rome. I have visited it twice (last time was 2009 November) and since childhood I have dreamed of moving there. I have even considered if I could have an exchange term in the Università di Roma, but it would not be much of a help for my studies.

Photos of past escapades

Oh dear. It seems to be so tragically, that I have been possessed by an evil trickster spirit. The spirit pleades me to post some pictures, so here it is:

Last summer I was visiting Estonia's capital, Tallinn. Just a few minutes walk from the centrum is an old prison. It was abandoned some time after the World War II, occupied by hippies and many otehr things and finally turists and other weirdos can go and see it for a euro or two. This is what it looked like.

Needless to say, but I intend to go there again with a friend for some kick-ass photo shoot.
